Where Tradition and Fine Craftsmansip Meet
The art of fly tying is the art of creating an effect, and those of us who tie flies find a great pleasure in making and using our
own flies. From The Art of Tying the Wet Fly and Fishing the Flymph, Mr. James Leisenring and Mr. Vernon Hidy
My fly tying skills have come through years of practice and my need of paying attention to detail.
You can rest assured that
I will tie each and every fly as if it were for my own use. This is what I do, this is my philosophy, it is who I am.
I offer, for
those who would like, a set, Mr. Leisenring's "Favorite Twelve" flies, tied by myself, for a price of $25.00.
All other flies are offered
at a price of $16.00 per dozen.
All flies are tied using the finest materials available, those same materials offered on our
Fly Tying Materials page.
Flymphs: A WINGLESS ARTIFICIAL FLY with a soft, translucent body of fur or wool blends with the undercolor of the tying silk when
wet, utilizing soft hackle fibers easily activated by the currents to give the effect of an insect alive in the water, and strategically
cast diagonally upstream or across for the trout to take just below or within a few inches of the surface film.

Soft Hackle Flies: The most important element ot the soft hackled fly is its hackle. The artificial fly has a sparsly tied body
of silk or herl and their wound hackles are of water-absorbing land bird feathers like Partridge, Grouse, Starling, Woodcock and Snipe.
